The Valdarno, like most of Tuscany, is characterized by the presence of olive trees and without this ancient plant we could certainly not speak of Tuscany landscape.
The history of the olive tree has always been linked to man: stories, sacred texts and archaeological finds date its cultivation to at least 6000 years ago.
The cultivation of olive trees spread thanks to the work of men and monks and the production of oil in Tuscany has been attested at least since the seventh century A.C. ; in fact the olive trees clinging to the slopes on the terraces supported by dry stone walls, declared a World Heritage Site, constitute the identity of a unique landscape.
The olive harvesting, from the end of October to the end of November, represents a special event for the whole Valdarno: men and women are involved, struggling with nets, stairs and rakes, in a ritual related to the truest rural tradition widespread in our territory. In fact, in addition to the numerous olive farms, many people cultivate their own olive grove, just to have “the oil for home” , a tradition that contributes to preserve and maintain a landscape that is unique.
And then the crusher, the pressing and finally the oil, our green gold.
The extra virgin olive oil produced in Valdarno is crushed with the best extraction techniques and has excellent organoleptic properties, an intense green color, sometimes embellished by iridescent golden shades, and a characteristic fruity aroma with hints of artichoke and fresh grass and taste notes of bitter and spicy.
Every Valdarno farmer keeps and produces his own oil and carefully controls the entire production process, from the management of the olive groves to the harvesting of the fruit, from the pressing, extraction, bottling and proper preservation of the product. Processes carried out with the maximum care and passion from wise hands. In fact, if we were to ask what is the value of a bottle of oil of the territory, we can only answer: priceless.
Each drop contains a thousand-year-old history, passion, tradition, innovation, work, respect for the territory and the environment and an unmistakable note of
Tuscany: the landscape and the character of a great land.
