The natural sweetener par excellence used since the dawn of time.
Collected since prehistoric times, legend says that even Zeus was fed with honey in his childhood. Its production in Tuscany is a tradition that dates back to the Etruscan era.
In Valdarno many beekeepers produce excellent quality honey in full respect of the environment using organic methods.
Bees collect nectar from many millions of flowers and fly up to 150,000 kilometers to produce a kilo of honey. They bring an important benefit to the environment, since thanks to the natural work of pollination many plants can produce their fruits.
The climatic conditions and the botanical variety of which the Valdarno area is rich, allow honey to develop a remarkable range of scents that distinguish the different types of honey.
Honey is widely used in traditional Tuscan cuisine, both for the preparation of cakes and biscuits, and combined with fresh or aged cheeses, such as pecorino cheese.
